Bhajan competition begins at Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam: The temple town of Bhadrachalam reverberated with devotional fervour on Monday as state-level Bhajan competitions commenced at the Sri Kalpavruksha Narasimha Swamy Temple, attracting Bhajan troupes from the Telugu States and several other parts of the country.

Organised under the guidance of Dr Krishna Chaitanya Swamy, the three-day event transformed the temple precincts into a vibrant centre of devotional music and cultural expression. The competitions featured a blend of traditional Bhajans, Harinama Sankirtanas, Tappeta Bhajans, and devotional Kirtanas, with participating troupes presenting soulful renditions in their distinctive styles. The performances drew enthusiastic appreciation from devotees, who immersed themselves in the spiritual atmosphere. Thousands of devotees from different regions flocked to the temple to witness the inaugural day’s proceedings. The temple complex remained packed with pilgrims, including children, youth and elderly devotees.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Krishna Chaitanya Swamy said Bhajans were far more than musical performances and served as a powerful medium for preserving spirituality, culture and righteousness.

“A Bhajan is not merely a song; it is a sacred expression of devotion capable of elevating the human spirit and invoking divine grace,” he said, urging the younger generation to embrace India’s spiritual heritage and play an active role in safeguarding traditional devotional practices that are gradually fading from public life. Participants said the event had provided an important platform to promote Bhakti, cultural values, and Sanatana traditions. They also expressed gratitude to the organisers for bringing together Bhajan troupes from different States and honouring artists dedicated to preserving India’s rich devotional legacy. The competitions will continue over the next two days, with more devotional performances and cultural programmes scheduled at the temple.
