TG BJP chief felicitates Sepaktakraw champions

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao felicitated the state’s Sepaktakraw champions, including A Harinath, who recently won a gold medal at the 6th South Asian Sepaktakraw Championship in Sri Lanka.

Addressing a ceremony organised on Sunday, Ramchander Rao praised the growing popularity of Sepaktakraw, noting that both men and women are participating in large numbers. He highlighted the role of Chandrakant Kavlekar, Former Deputy Chief Minister of Goa and All India Sepaktakraw President, in promoting the sport and helping it gain strong momentum across the country.

He emphasised that sports are an essential part of life and must be encouraged at every stage — from school to college and beyond. “Games and physical activity keep us healthy, disciplined, energetic, and mentally strong,” he said, adding that a prosperous society requires a strong sporting culture. Rao also underlined the importance Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given to sports, who has consistently encouraged the creation of better facilities and opportunities for youth.
