APSDMA issues rain alert to AP amid surface trough in Bay of Bengal

Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority MD Prakhar Jain stated that rains accompanied by lightning are likely in several districts of the state on Thursday due to a trough extending from the central Bay of Bengal to Karnataka, Coastal Andhra, and Telangana. He mentioned that light to moderate rains with lightning are expected in the Markapuram and Rayalaseema regions.
He added that light rains accompanied by lightning might occur in isolated areas across the districts of Alluri Sitarama Raju, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, and Nellore. He noted that by 5 PM on Wednesday, rainfall of 72.5 mm was recorded in Garikipalem and 64.5 mm in Laveru, both in Srikakulam district.
Meanwhile, he revealed that a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Makavarapalem (Anakapalli district) and Kovvur (East Godavari district).
