Vivo’s upcoming X500 series could bring larger batteries, advanced cameras, and next-generation MediaTek chipsets across the lineup.

Vivo may have only recently unveiled its flagship Vivo X300 Ultra, but discussions surrounding its successor are already gaining momentum. Fresh leaks suggest that the company is preparing to launch a new flagship lineup under the Vivo X500 branding, potentially skipping the X400 series altogether.

According to reports, Vivo's upcoming flagship family could include three models — the Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro, and a new Vivo X500e. Industry observers believe the company may avoid the X400 name because of tetraphobia, a cultural aversion to the number four that is common in several East Asian markets, including China.

Recent information shared by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo has revealed several possible specifications of what is believed to be the standard Vivo X500 model. The device is expected to feature a 6.59-inch flat display, offering a balance between usability and immersive viewing. In the camera department, Vivo may equip the smartphone with a 50-megapixel primary sensor measuring 1/1.28 inches, accompanied by a periscope telephoto lens designed to improve zoom photography.

Performance is also expected to receive a significant upgrade. The Vivo X500 is rumored to be powered by MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9500 chipset, which could deliver improved efficiency and stronger overall performance compared to previous generations.

One of the biggest highlights of the leaked specifications is battery capacity. The Vivo X500 is tipped to house a massive 7,500mAh battery, representing a substantial increase over the 6,040mAh battery found in the Vivo X300. If accurate, this upgrade could position the device among the longest-lasting flagship smartphones in its segment.

Meanwhile, the higher-end Vivo X500 Pro is rumored to arrive with an even more premium feature set. Reports suggest the smartphone could sport a large 6.8-inch to 6.9-inch 2K LTPO OLED display with support for refresh rates of up to 144Hz, promising smoother visuals and improved responsiveness. The device may also include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for enhanced security and faster authentication.

Under the hood, the Vivo X500 Pro is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s next-generation Dimensity 9600 processor. The chipset is reportedly being developed using a cutting-edge 2nm manufacturing process, which could bring gains in power efficiency, sustained performance, and artificial intelligence processing capabilities.

Photography is likely to remain a key focus for Vivo's flagship lineup. The X500 Pro is reportedly being tested with a new 50-megapixel LOFIC sensor aimed at improving dynamic range and delivering better image quality in difficult lighting environments. The device could also feature a powerful 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, enhancing long-range zoom performance.

Battery life may be another standout feature of the Pro model, with leaks indicating a battery capacity exceeding 7,000mAh alongside support for 100W fast charging.

As for the Vivo X500e, details remain scarce. The device is expected to serve as a more affordable option within the series, potentially offering flagship-inspired features at a lower price point. More information about the lineup is likely to emerge as Vivo moves closer to its official announcement.
