EFLU launches two-week training programme for teachers of tribal welfare institutions

The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, has launched a two-week training programme for Telangana tribal welfare teachers. Supported by the Governor’s Discretionary Grants, the initiative aims to enhance pedagogical skills and language proficiency to improve educational outcomes for tribal students.
The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, inaugurated a two-week in-house training programme for teachers of Tribal Welfare Institutions under the Government of Telangana. The programme, scheduled from June 8 to June 19, 2026, is being conducted with support from the Governor’s Discretionary Grants, Lok Bhavan, Government of Telangana.
Addressing the inaugural session, EFLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Nagaraju emphasized the importance of empowering teachers to strengthen educational outcomes in tribal communities. He noted that Telangana’s tribal population constitutes nearly 10 per cent of the state’s population and highlighted the need for initiatives that enhance professional skills and communication abilities among educators.
“The programme aims to equip teachers with skills that can positively impact students’ learning and future employability,” he said. The programme outline was presented by Prof. Anand Mahanand, Director of the Centre for Consultancy and Language Training (CCLT), EFLU, while Prof. R. Kishore Kumar, Dean Academics, spoke about language proficiency and emerging trends in language teaching. The Vice-Chancellor also formally released the course materials prepared for the training programme.
The inaugural session was attended by teachers from tribal welfare schools across Telangana, along with senior university officials including Prof. Shyam Rao Rathod, Proctor; Dr. Rajaram, OSD to the Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Publications; Prof. Revathi Srinivas, faculty members, module writers, and moderators. The programme focuses on strengthening teaching practices and professional development among educators.
