IIHM hosts webinar to explore emerging trends in hospitality careers

IIHM Bangalore hosts an interactive webinar connecting students and parents with alumni to explore diverse career opportunities, global internships, and key skills in hospitality.
The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Bangalore, recently conducted session in its ongoing webinar series aimed at helping students and parents gain a clearer understanding of career opportunities in the hospitality sector. The initiative brought together prospective students, families, current learners and alumni working in leading hospitality organisations to discuss industry trends, career pathways and workplace expectations.
The webinar focused on sharing first-hand experiences from graduates who have built careers in hotels, luxury hospitality and international education. Alumni spoke about their professional journeys, the skills required in the industry and the opportunities available across different segments of hospitality.
One of the speakers, a 2022 graduate, shared her transition from a management trainee role in sales and marketing at a leading hotel group to pursuing higher studies in luxury and lifestyle management in Paris. She highlighted the importance of practical exposure, industry interaction and extracurricular activities in shaping career growth.
Another participant, a final-year student, discussed opportunities received through campus placements and international internships. Her experiences included exposure to global hospitality practices, professional certifications and training programmes that enhanced industry readiness.
A key theme throughout the webinar was the importance of communication skills, adaptability, professionalism and continuous learning in hospitality careers. Alumni noted that success in the sector depends not only on technical knowledge but also on interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
Parents who attended the session interacted directly with alumni and faculty members, seeking insights into career prospects, higher education opportunities and the evolving demands of the hospitality industry.
Speaking during the webinar, Sanchari Chowdhury, Director, IIHM Bangalore and Head-South Operations, said such interactions provide students and families with practical perspectives on hospitality careers by connecting them with professionals who have already entered the industry.
The webinar is part of an ongoing series conducted throughout the academic year, providing a platform for dialogue between students, parents, educators and industry professionals while helping aspiring hospitality students make informed academic and career decisions.
