Mumbai-Style Pav Bhaji, Faloodas and Cheesy Pizzas Arrive in Hyderabad With Shiv Sagar

For decades, Shiv Sagar has been one of Mumbai’s most beloved vegetarian restaurant chains — a name associated with buttery pav bhaji, cheesy Mumbai-style pizzas, towering faloodas and nostalgic late-night comfort food. Now, the iconic brand has officially entered Hyderabad with its newest outlet in Jubilee Hills, bringing along over 40 years of culinary legacy.
Founded in 1981 by Mr. Shankar Rama Poojary, Shiv Sagar began as a vision to redefine vegetarian dining in India. At a time when traditional Udupi restaurants primarily served South Indian staples like idli, dosa and upma, Shiv Sagar introduced a broader multi-cuisine experience that combined Mumbai street food, North Indian dishes and Indo-Chinese flavours under one roof.
Over the years, the restaurant became especially famous for its signature Bombay-style pav bhaji — slow-cooked on a traditional tava with rich spices, generous amounts of butter and perfectly toasted pav. Even today, it remains the brand’s biggest crowd-puller and a nostalgic favourite among generations of diners.
Another standout is Shiv Sagar’s Mumbai-style pizza loaded with indulgent layers of Amul cheese, offering a distinctly desi twist that longtime patrons swear by. The menu also features popular faloodas, dry fruit milkshakes, fresh juices and dessert beverages that have helped the restaurant build a loyal family audience over the years.
What makes Shiv Sagar stand out is its ability to evolve while preserving the familiar flavours that made it iconic. The expansive menu today includes South Indian specialties, North Indian curries, street-food favourites, Italian-inspired dishes and Indo-Chinese classics.
Cult favourites like Chinese Bhel and Chilli Idli further showcase the brand’s playful and innovative approach to vegetarian comfort food.
With Hyderabad known for embracing bold flavours and diverse dining experiences, the Jubilee Hills outlet aims to blend Mumbai nostalgia with local preferences while retaining the signature taste Shiv Sagar is known for.
Speaking about the launch, Shridhar S. Poojary shared that Hyderabad’s vibrant food culture made Jubilee Hills a natural choice for expansion, adding that the team looks forward to introducing the city to Shiv Sagar’s iconic Mumbai favourites.
More than four decades after it first opened in Mumbai, Shiv Sagar continues to represent consistency, affordability and culinary innovation. Its Hyderabad debut marks the beginning of a new chapter — one that hopes to recreate the same warmth and comfort that has made the brand a household name for generations.
