Mahila Congress warns of nationwide agitation over fuel price hike

Telangana Mahila Congress leaders protest rising LPG, petrol, and diesel prices. Led by state president Errabelli Swarna, activists demand a rollback of fuel hikes, citing the growing financial strain on middle-class families.
Hanumakonda: Telangana Mahila Congress President Errabelli Swarna on Tuesday warned that the Mahila Congress would intensify its nationwide agitation if the Central Government fails to roll back the recent hike in LPG, petrol and diesel prices. She alleged that repeated fuel price increases have imposed a severe financial burden on common and middle-class families while benefiting large corporate companies.
Addressing a mega protest rally organised by the Telangana Pradesh Mahila Congress from Gandhi Bhavan to Gun Park in Hyderabad, Swarna criticised the BJP-led Central Government for repeatedly increasing fuel prices and accused it of prioritising corporate interests over public welfare. She demanded an immediate withdrawal of the enhanced LPG, petrol and diesel prices and a reduction in fuel taxes to provide relief to the public.
Swarna said rising fuel prices have increased transportation costs and pushed up the prices of essential commodities, vegetables and other daily necessities. She termed the repeated hikes within a short period, citing international market fluctuations, as unjust and questioned the silence of BJP leaders who had earlier protested against LPG price increases during the Congress regime.
She warned that women-led protests would be intensified across the country if the Centre does not reduce fuel prices and said the government would be shown the strength of women’s collective power.
