Saudi-led coalition says its fighter jets bombing Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels
Aden: A Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen says an air campaign is underway against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels along the Red Sea coastline.
The coalition spokesman, Saudi Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, said 100 fighter jets are providing support to forces of Yemen's internationally recognised government fighting against the Houthis.
He said the coalition has secured “air protection” of the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait and destroyed hundreds of Houthi targets as part of their ongoing campaign.
Forces allied with the government earlier Monday launched a ground offensive against the rebels on the eastern flank of the coastal areas that the Houthis had seized in their latest advances.
