Yadagirigutta: The Government’s announcement of the governing body for the Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA) has triggered disappointment among Congress leaders in the erstwhile Nalgonda district. Party workers had expected adequate representation for leaders from the Alair and Bhongir Assembly constituencies, which fall within the temple’s jurisdiction. However, the final list failed to meet those expectations.

The government issued orders appointing the YTDA Chairman and board members. However, many Congress leaders believe that local political and social representatives have been largely overlooked. They argue that people familiar with the region should have been given a greater role in the authority that will make crucial decisions regarding the temple’s development.

Congress workers hoped that those who had worked for the party would be rewarded with nominated positions.

The omission of Alair leaders from the final list has left party cadres disappointed, with many expressing dissatisfaction over the government’s decision.

A similar reaction has emerged in the Bhongir constituency. Despite the region’s close association with the Yadagirigutta temple and its development activities, no local leader was included on the board.

The issue gained further political significance after Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, MLA from Munugode, publicly expressed his displeasure over the formation of the YTDA board. He questioned why, despite being a senior local leader and an MLA from Yadadri Bhongir district, he was not even informed about the Board’s constitution.

Meanwhile, residents of Yadagirigutta, representatives of various community groups, and political leaders have expressed mixed opinions on the new board. Many believe that local individuals who have worked for the temple’s development over the years deserved greater representation. They argue that including people with firsthand knowledge of local conditions would have strengthened the implementation of development projects. Leaders from the BRS and the BJP have also questioned the lack of adequate representation for local stakeholders.

As the issue gains political prominence, analysts state how the Congress leadership addresses the growing dissatisfaction over the YTDA appointments is expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape of the district in the coming days.
