Karimnagar: Venkat Sai Gunda, a young filmmaker and actor hailing from Karimnagar, recently participated in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France, marking a significant milestone in his cinematic journey.

Currently based in New York, Venkat has been actively involved in independent cinema and is recognised for his focus on content-driven films rather than conventional commercial cinema. His psychological horror film “The Deserving,” directed by Koka Singh Arora, has earned appreciation at international film festivals and received several awards for its unique storytelling and execution. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Venkat attended premiere screenings and also walked the iconic red carpet. Speaking on the occasion, he said Cannes represents much more than glamour, as it celebrates meaningful cinema and powerful storytelling. He described the experience of attending the festival as a filmmaker as memorable and inspiring.
