Private Mutton Shop Accused of Damaging Road Dividers on bypass highway in Mahabubnagar;

Mahabubnagar: Serious allegations have surfaced in Mahabubnagar over the illegal removal of road dividers on bypass highway by a private mutton shop, raising concerns about public safety and official negligence. Social activist and president of Nenu Saitham voluntary organization, Diddi Praveen Kumar, accused the authorities of turning a blind eye to the destruction of government property.
Addressing a press conference Praveen Kumar said that while Road Safety Week is being observed with awareness campaigns, incidents that endanger public lives are taking place simultaneously. He alleged that dividers on the bypass road are being deliberately removed to facilitate access to a private fresh meat shop, putting motorists at risk.
He further pointed out the contradiction in governance, stating that even as the police are conducting awareness drives under the “Arrive Alive” initiative, such violations are occurring within days of visits by senior officials, including DGP Shivadhar Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to the district.
The activist alleged gross negligence on the part of Roads and Buildings (R&B) department officials. He stated that the bypass road, constructed at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore from Pista House to Christianpally on the outskirts of the town, is witnessing repeated damage to its infrastructure, with no action from authorities.
Despite directives issued by district SP D.Janaki to inspect the damaged stretches, rebuild dividers using cement blocks, and initiate strict action against violators, the practice of removing dividers reportedly continues. Praveen Kumar highlighted that the management of a newly set-up meat shop has allegedly ignored these instructions.
Calling for immediate intervention, Praveen Kumar demanded that criminal cases be registered against those responsible for removing the dividers. He urged the administration to act swiftly to prevent further damage and ensure road safety for the public.
