Vasalamarri village back in spotlight as district admin plans devpt works

Bhongir: Once known across Telangana as the adopted village of former Chief Minister KChandrashekar Rao (KCR), Vasalamarrihas attracted the attention of the State government once again. Located in Turkapallymandal of YadadriBhongir district, about 27 km from Bhongir, the village is back in the news amid reports that Chief Minister ARevanth Reddy is likely to visit it during the second week of July.
The Congress government is now planning to develop Vasalamarri as a model village under a fresh development initiative. With the Chief Minister’s visit almost confirmed, the district administration has accelerated development works to ensure visible progress before his arrival. Officials have intensified monitoring of ongoing projects and are working to complete pending works on priority.
As part of the Congress government’s flagship Indiramma Housing Scheme, Vasalamarri has been sanctioned 143 houses. The administration aims to achieve significant construction progress before the Chief Minister’s visit. Of the 143 sanctioned houses, construction of 57 has already been completed. Among the remaining houses, 27 have reached the slab stage, 10 are at roof level, 12 are in the basement stage, and five are in the initial phase of construction. However, 32 beneficiaries are yet to commence construction.
Recognizing the importance of the village, senior officials have been making frequent visits to review the progress of development works. Recently, Housing Department Managing Director and District Collector Anurag Jayanti inspected the village and reviewed the implementation of the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Accompanied by technical teams from the Housing Department, the officials conducted detailed inspections of construction sites and assessed the pace and quality of the works.
With the Chief Minister’s visit drawing closer, officials are also focusing on other pending developmental activities and civic infrastructure. Sources reveal that instructions have already been issued to all concerned departments to ensure that Vasalamarri is fully prepared ahead of the proposed visit, signalling the government’s renewed commitment to transforming the once-adopted village into a model of rural development.
Vasalamarri had gained Statewide prominence during the previous BRS government after KCR adopted the village. His visits, community lunches with villagers, and ambitious promises for its transformation made the village a symbol of model rural development. However, many of the promised development works were either delayed or remained incomplete, leaving villagers disappointed as the expected transformation did not fully materialise.
