Vizianagaram: A new economic growth chapter of North Andhra region has been unfolded at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Alluri Sitaram Raju Green Field International Airport on August 1 (Saturday).
Highlighting tradition and culture, a massive Dhimsa dance, involving 13,500 Adivasi girls, was presented welcoming the Prime Minister. The massive Dhimsa presentation gained an entry into the Guinness World Records.
Alongside Dhimsa and Kuchipudi dance, a number of troupes performed folk dances marking the grand event.
Reaching the Greenfield Airport, the Prime Minister inaugurated the coveted airport along with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, Governor of Goa P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Governor of AP S. Abdul Nazeer, Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, Ministers V.Anitha, BC Janardhan Reddy, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, among others.
The new airport, completed 31 months before schedule, was decked up exuding rich culture and heritage of North Andhra region and other parts of Andhra Pradesh. The displays at the airport included Etikoppaka toys, Bobbili Veena and puppet show presentation.
The inauguration of Bhogapuram Airport marked a significant milestone in the development ofY North Andhra region, ushering in a new era for the state's aviation sector.
Scores of people from across North Andhra districts arrived at the venue to witness the public meeting and be part of the inaugural ceremony.
