A 56-year-old man hacked his sleeping son to death with an axe in Yanakandla village, Nandyal district, following property disputes and domestic issues.
Nandyal: A man hacked his 30-year-old son to death with an axe while he was sleeping, reportedly due to property disputes and family issues. The incident took place on Monday morning at Yanakandla village in Banaganapalle mandal of Nandyal district.
The deceased was identified as Bala Madhu and the accused as Bala Maddileti (56). According to information, there were frequent quarrels in the family over Madhu’s alleged drinking habit.
Amid continuing differences, Bala Maddileti allegedly killed his sleeping son with an axe. He also attempted to attack his wife Subbamma (50), who escaped after throwing chilli powder into his eyes.
The accused fled the village after the murder. On receiving information, Banaganapalle Urban CI Praveen Kumar reached the spot and inspected the scene. Police registered a murder case and launched an investigation. The body was shifted to Banaganapalle Government Hospital for post-mortem.
