Weather alert: AP, Telangana to receive heavy rains on Tuesday evening

The Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over heavy rains today. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has warned that thunderstorms with lightning may occur in the state over the next three hours. An ‘Orange alert’ has been issued as rain showers are expected in the districts of Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Anakapalli. People living in Gajapathinagaram, Srungavarapukota, and Bheemunipatnam were asked to be cautious and take care. A ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued in the Annamayya, Sri Sathya Sai, Tirupati, Chittoor, and Ananthapur districts as light to scattered rains with lightning are expected in these districts over the next few hours. The monsoon trough at sea level was extended to Nagaland through Anupgarh, Delhi, Shahjahanpur, Basti, and Chhapra. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation develops over South Interior Karnataka and surrounding areas at 5.8 NM above sea level. Also, a cyclonic circulation prevails at 4.5 NM above sea level over the westcentral Bay of Bengal and coastal Andhra Pradesh. It has been clarified that rains are expected for the next three days. In addition, it has been warned that strong surface winds of 30–40 kmph may develop in isolated districts of Telangana.
