Perpetual Pictures Private Limited has unveiled Cartoon Movie, an AI-based animation platform, and the company is set to change the way cartoons are made and viewed. Backed by AI innovation, Cartoon Movie promises to enable creators to bring fresh ideas to the screen while engaging the audience in new ways.
The animation startup, which was founded in 2024, is based in Bengaluru and has been working on building an end-to-end animation ecosystem that combines AI and a streaming platform to capitalise on the growing appetite for animation. It is designed to offer creators access to generative AI production tools and leverage multi-agent AI technology for a more accessible and efficient production process.
Unlike traditional animated TV shows and movies, which have an end, Cartoon Movie’s concept provides a continuous evolution of the storyline, enabled by AI. The company aims to utilise AI to make it possible for creators to design animated worlds that stretch beyond the limits of traditional media, helping them and their audiences shape the narrative.
Speaking about the idea, Founder and CEO of Perpetual Pictures SEkhark Maddula said their vision is to democratise animation and empower creators by giving them cutting-edge AI production tools, while also introducing viewers to a new dimension of interactive storytelling.
According to the co-founders, the idea for Cartoon Movie came about when one day while watching an animated series with their children, their daughter asked why there were no more episodes. Why couldn’t they continue watching more stories?
The question stayed with them, and they set out to explore how AI could help make it possible for animated worlds to continue evolving long after the initial episodes had aired. And thus, Cartoon Movie was born.
“We were inspired to create something unique that would allow every child, creator, and storyteller to bring their imaginative ideas to life. We wanted to create an ecosystem of animation that empowers every creator to customise their stories,” said Sujana Maddula, the co-founder and director.
Available on both Android and iOS, Cartoon Movie is now building its AI Studio and community of creators as the company works to scale up its operations globally.
