Shankar Mahadevan will headline India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 handover segment. The singer and composer will perform in the India Handover Segment at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2026 at Scotland’s OVO Hydro in Glasgow on 2 August 2026. During the 20-minute performance, India will take over hosting duties for the first time ever for the Commonwealth Games 2030 to be held in Ahmedabad.

The much-anticipated handover ceremony will unveil a special cultural performance that will witness the rich artistic legacy of India’s performance traditions and provide a sneak peek into the culture that will host the sports extravaganza in 2030. This performance will especially commemorate the vibrant state of Gujarat, which has been chosen to host the Commonwealth Games centenary.

Shankar Mahadevan will headline the concert along with his sons Siddharth Mahadevan and Shivam Mahadevan. Gujarati playback singer Bhoomi Trivedi, actress and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, and the renowned sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma will support him.

Shankar Mahadevan expressed his feelings about the highly anticipated event.
