Elderly man dies by suicide using licensed gun in Shivamogga

Shivamogga : An 85-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his own firearm at Tattekodlu near Nittur village in Hosanagara taluk of Shivamogga district.

The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Rao, a resident of Tattekodlu. According to police, the incident occurred inside a room in his house, where he allegedly used his firearm to shoot himself. The impact of the gunshot caused severe head injuries, resulting in his death on the spot. Bloodstains were found on the walls of the room following the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Ramachandra Rao had suffered a head injury after a fall three days ago. He had reportedly received treatment at a local hospital, but was continuing to experience severe pain. Police suspect that the persistent discomfort may have driven him to take the extreme step.

Family members reportedly rushed to the room after hearing a loud gunshot and discovered him lying in a pool of blood. They immediately alerted the authorities.
