Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister S. Joseph Vijay will attend the passing-out parade and graduation ceremony of the 14th batch of Deputy Superintendents of Police at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy on Wednesday.
The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. at the Tamil Nadu Police higher training ground at Unamancheri, near Vandalur, on the outskirts of Chennai. It will mark the completion of training by the batch of officers preparing to take up their responsibilities in the police force.
CM Vijay, who will be the chief guest, will watch the passing-out parade and present trophies and medals to officers who distinguished themselves in different categories during their training. He will also deliver an address congratulating the graduating officers. The programme brings together the formal graduation ceremony and the parade, with the presentation of awards recognising achievement among members of the batch. The honours will acknowledge officers who excelled in the respective training categories. An invitation issued by Tamil Nadu Director General of Police and Head of the Police Force, Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, said ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and representatives of local bodies would attend the function.
Senior government officials and other prominent invitees are also expected to be present, according to the invitation. Their participation will accompany the recognition of the officers’ completion of training at the academy. The graduating officers will be the focus of the evening’s proceedings, which will include the parade, the distribution of medals and trophies, and the Chief Minister’s congratulatory address.
The event will celebrate both the completion of the batch’s training and the achievements of its award-winning members.
