Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu explaining about 3D concrete printing technology for housing to Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at foundation laying ceremony for 3 lakh houses across state at Burripalem village in Guntur district on Sunday
Guntur: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said that 3D concrete printing technology would be introduced on a pilot basis at Burripalem as part of the state’s housing programme. The technology, being used for the first time in the country, is expected to help construct houses faster and provide better thermal comfort, with indoor temperatures projected to remain around eight degrees Celsius lower, the Chief Minister said.
Naidu, along with Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan, laid the foundation stone for the construction of three lakh houses across Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 at Burripalem in the Tenali Assembly constituency on Sunday. Earlier, Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the first instalment of 3 lakh houses worth Rs 3,600 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin 2.0 at the event in Burripalem village.
In the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Chouhan also laid the foundation stone for the country’s first pilot housing project using 3D concrete printing technology, comprising 177 houses at a cost of Rs 14 crore.
Naidu said that after successful completion of the pilot project, 5,000 houses would be constructed using 3D printing technology, with the objective of making Andhra Pradesh a model for technology-based housing. The leaders joined a beneficiary family in laying the foundation for the construction of their house, which will be built using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology.
Chauhan assured the beneficiary family in Burripalem that a durable house will be constructed for them at the lowest possible cost at the earliest time.
Naidu underscored that the new house would incorporate the latest technology to ensure a cooler indoor environment.
Addressing a public meeting, Naidu said the state would achieve the goal of providing housing to all eligible beneficiaries by 2029. He said the Centre had initially sanctioned 75,000 houses to Andhra Pradesh and subsequently increased the allocation to three lakh houses following his request.
Naidu said Chouhan had agreed to sanction another three lakh houses after completion of the present batch, while a further three lakh houses would be sanctioned next year, taking the total allocation to nine lakh houses.
Recalling the significance of Burripalem, Naidu said the village was the birthplace of legendary actor superstar Krishna and had now produced a political leader in the form of Union Minister Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. He also recalled Chouhan’s contribution to Madhya Pradesh through major river-linking projects.
Naidu criticised the previous government for its alleged mismanagement of the housing programme between 2019 and 2024. He alleged that six lakh houses sanctioned for the poor had been cancelled and that corruption and irregularities had affected the housing initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would extend full support to Andhra Pradesh’s development.
He described the state’s transformation under Naidu’s leadership as “a journey towards a Shining Andhra, Advanced Andhra and Achieving Andhra”.
Chouhan said the Centre was providing Rs 6,000 annually to every eligible farmer under the PM-KISAN scheme, while the Andhra Pradesh government was providing an additional Rs 14,000 under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, taking the total annual assistance to Rs 20,000.
