SIR exercise: In an examplary act, CM Revanth reddy to meet Kodangal BLAs today

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will hold a meeting with Congress Booth Level Agents in his Kodangal Assembly constituency on Wednesday in a move aimed at setting an example for party leaders to actively participate in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. According to party sources, the Chief Minister wants Congress leaders across the state to emulate his proactive approach by personally monitoring the SIR exercise in their respective constituencies. The party believes that active involvement of BLAs and local leaders in assisting voters during the revision process will strengthen its grassroots connect and ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls. Helping voters during the SIR process will not only safeguard their voting rights but also strengthen the party's relationship with them, as inactive leaders risk letting rival parties build closer ties with voters.

Revanth Reddy will review the progress of the SIR exercise in Kodangal with local Congress leaders and BLAs, assessing the status of the electoral roll revision and issuing directions to intensify the campaign at the grassroots level. Sources said the Chief Minister has expressed dissatisfaction over the response of several Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, and party functionaries towards the SIR process.

During a recent Zoom meeting attended by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, he reportedly pulled up party leaders for their lack of active participation and directed them to treat the exercise with utmost seriousness. He is also learnt to have warned leaders against visiting Gandhi Bhavan until the SIR process concludes on August 3 if they fail to devote adequate attention to the campaign, cautioning that those who neglect the exercise may not be considered for nominated posts.

Revanth Reddy had earlier announced that he would hold another Zoom review meeting on July 30, four days before the conclusion of the SIR process, to assess the performance of party leaders in implementing the SIR campaign. Following his warning, party sources said many leaders have become more proactive in mobilising BLAs and assisting voters across various regions. To underscore the importance of the exercise, the Chief Minister is staying overnight in Kodangal ahead of Wednesday's review meeting with BLAs. Party leaders believe his direct participation will send a strong message across the entire organisation, reflecting the importance attached to the exercise.

The Congress has already stepped up its outreach, with party leaders conducting nearly 500 review meetings on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls across all 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. The Kodangal review is expected to further accelerate the campaign as the August 3 deadline approaches.
