Dr GV takes charge as Khammam Red Cross Society chairman
Khammam: Dr G Venkateshwarlu (Dr GV), a prominent Doctor, on Monday took charge as the newly elected chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Khammam district branch, as the new governing body assumed office following a formal oath-taking ceremony here.
Dr GV was unanimously elected chairman of the Khammam district Red Cross Society, while Kamarthapu Kiran Kumar was elected vice-chairman, Yarlagadda Raghava Rao as treasurer and Kolla Ravinder as a state committee member. The first meeting of the newly elected governing body was held under the supervision of election officer Srinivasa Rao, who administered the oath of office to the elected members.
Speaking after assuming charge, Dr GV thanked the voters of the district and all those who supported the new team in the first-ever elections held for the Khammam district Red Cross Society. He said the confidence reposed in the new governing body would be honoured by working for the people and strengthening the society’s service activities.
“It is not a distribution of posts, but a distribution of responsibilities,” Dr GV said, emphasising that the new team was committed to taking the Red Cross Society to greater heights through service-oriented programmes.
He said the governing body would remain in office for three years and work towards fulfilling the assurances given to the voters and people of Khammam district.
