Rajanna Sircilla: Handloom is not just an industry but a reflection of India’s soul, said Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

On the occasion of National Handloom Day on Friday, he extended greetings to weavers and released a statement to the media highlighting the importance of the sector and the steps taken by the Union government.

Stating that weavers were as important as farmers who feed the nation, Bandi Sanjay said handloom is the largest cottage industry after agriculture, with around 10 crore people depending on the sector for their livelihood.

He said handloom represented India’s rich history, culture and artistic heritage, while weavers were the custodians of the country’s centuries-old traditions.
