AP Govt extends tenure of PACS in-charge committees by six months

Vijayawada: The government has extended tenure of the existing Official Persons-in-Charge and Non-Official Persons-in-Charge Committees of 2,020 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) across the State by another six months to ensure continuity in their administration until elections are held.

To this effect, Agriculture and Cooperation Department Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary B Rajasekhar issued GO Rt No 717 on Monday. According to the order, the committees will continue in office from July 31, 2026, to January 30, 2027, or until elections are conducted or further orders are issued, whichever is earlier. The government issued the order after considering proposals submitted by the Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CC&RCS). It also granted an exemption to the concerned PACS from the provisions of Section 32(7)(a) of the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act, 1964, by exercising its powers under Section 123 of the Act.

The extension applies to the existing Person-In-charge Committees of all 2,020 PACS across the State. However, Vatrapudi PACS and Udimudi PACS in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district, and Phanidem PACS in Palnadu district, have been excluded from the purview of the order.

The government has directed the Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies to take necessary action for implementing the order. The extension is expected to ensure smooth functioning of cooperative societies and uninterrupted services to farmers until elections to the PACS are conducted.
