Birth anniversary of Kakani celebrated

Vijayawada: The birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter, former Andhra Pradesh legislator, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister, and prominent Jai Andhra Movement leader Kakani Venkata Ratnam, fondly remembered as “Ukku Kakani”, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Tagore Memorial Library here on Sunday.

Coinciding with the veteran leader’s birth anniversary was the birthday of his grandson, Kakani Tarun, making the occasion both memorable and joyous.

Speaking as the chief guest, Paturi Nagabhushanam paid rich tributes to Kakani Venkata Ratnam’s outstanding contributions to the State and recalled the historic Boat Library initiative that he had established during those years to promote reading among the public.

NTR District BJP president Adduri Sriram lauded Kakani Venkata Ratnam’s remarkable public service and appreciated Kakani Tarun for carrying forward his grandfather’s legacy through his commitment to social service. On the occasion, Kakani Tarun donated chairs for readers at the Tagore Memorial Library, reaffirming his support for strengthening library infrastructure and promoting reading culture.

Krishna District Library Authority Chairman MS Beig felicitated the distinguished guests and appreciated their contributions to public service and library development. Grade I Librarian K Ramadevi, library staff and a large number of readers participated in the celebrations.
