‘10 crore Nasha Mukti Pratigya Maha Abhiyan 2026’ for a drug-free society

Visakhapatnam: Ina step towards creating a drug-free society, the Brahma Kumaris, Vizianagaram Centre, organised ‘10 Crore Nasha Mukti Pratigya Maha Abhiyan 2026’, an awareness programme at Satya Institute of Technology and Management (SITAM), Vizianagaram. Organised in association with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 1,000 students, faculty members, and staff, who collectively pledged to stay away from substance abuse and contribute towards building a healthy, addiction-free India.

Addressing the gathering, Brahma Kumaris head Annapurna of the centre along with Saraswathi explained the objectives of the nationwide campaign and emphasised the importance of self-discipline, value-based living and spiritual awareness in preventing addiction among youth.

Participating as chief guest, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vizianagaram Raghavulu delivered a thought-provoking address on the devastating impact of drug abuse. He warned students about the severe legal consequences of drug trafficking and consumption, stressing that law enforcement agencies are uncompromising in dealing with narcotics-related offences. He urged the youth to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to substance abuse.

Later, Raghavulu administered the Nasha Mukti pledge to all participants and motivated them to lead healthy and responsible lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Majji Sashibhushana Rao, director of SITAM called upon students to develop the courage to say ‘No’ the very first time they are offered drugs or any addictive substance. He emphasised that a firm decision at the right moment can protect a lifetime of health, happiness and opportunities and encouraged students to become ambassadors of a drug-free society, spreading awareness among their families and communities.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to the institution in the presence of Principal DV Rama Murthy, heads of departments, faculty members, Police Inspector Srinivasa Rao, sisters from Brahma Kumaris, and students. The programme concluded with a collective resolve to build a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat – Viksit Bharat.’
