Hanumakonda takes up Rs. 20.52 crore road and drainage works
Hanumakonda: MLA Naini Rajender Reddy has said comprehensive drainage and road development works are being taken up to provide a permanent solution to the recurring flooding in Gokulnagar, Sammayyanagar and surrounding colonies.
The MLA on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for internal roads and side drainage works in the 57th Division at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.52 crore. He directed officials to commence the works without delay and complete them within the stipulated timeframe.
Reddy said floodwater had been entering houses in the area during heavy rains for several years. He explained that rainwater from the Ambedkar statue and water flowing from the Subedari Police Station converge near the Gokulnagar junction, causing flooding. The proposed integrated drainage system is expected to ensure smoother disposal of stormwater.
He also announced that Rs. 18 crore had been sanctioned for widening the road from Ambedkar Junction to Vaddepalli Church. The tender process has been completed, with work expected to begin shortly.
The MLA said the project would ease traffic congestion and include beautification of the Gokulnagar and Vaddepalli junctions. He urged residents and traders to cooperate during the development works.
Division in-charge E.V. Srinivas Rao, District Mahila Congress president Banka Sarala, SampathYadav, Ashok Reddy and officials attended the programme.
