Locals flock to Jurala for ‘flood watching’

Wanaparthy: Massive volumes of floodwater are flowing at the Jurala project in Amarachinta, following lifting of its 32 gates. It being a Sunday, people flocked to the project in large numbers to witness the flood flow.

In light of this, and prioritising public safety, strict security arrangements were organised in the vicinity of the project under the supervision of Amarachinta SI Swathi, following orders from SP Sunitha Reddy.

The police remained vigilant, setting up barricades to prevent anyone from entering dangerous zones and ensuring none ventured too close to the water flow. Measures were taken to ensure visitors watched the floodwaters from a safe distance.

Authorities warned the public to remain extremely vigilant during floods and not to visit dangerous areas merely to view water. They emphasised the importance of following police instructions, noting that venturing into hazardous zones or approaching water’s edge for selfies or videos out of excitement could lead to fatal accidents.

They urged people not to attempt to cross the barricades set up by the police and to strictly follow the instructions of police personnel on duty.

They advised paying special attention to children and ensuring they do not go near water bodies unaccompanied. SI Swathi stated that visitors should view the floodwater only from safe locations and immediately inform the nearest police personnel in the event of any emergency.
