Vijay Antony’s ‘Vanda Devullu’ OTT release date locked

The emotional family drama, Vanda Devullu, will be available to stream on ZEE5 from 7th August, following a successful theatrical run. The film saw an overwhelming response from the audience as it was recently released in Tamil Nadu in Tamil as Nooru Saami. It will be accessible in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and other languages.

The film stars Vijay Antony and was directed by Sasi, almost a decade after their successful collaboration Pichaikkaran (Bichagadu). It is produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation under Vijay Antony and Fatima Vijay Antony banner. The supporting cast includes Swasika, Ajay Dhishan, Lizzie Antony, Karunas, Kavya Anil, Balaji Sakthivel, Aruldoss, etc.

Further, a portion of the film is inspired by real events. The main character, a widow Selvi, leads her life with her children after her husband passes away. Later, when all of her children leave home, she decides to get married again and faces a lot of challenges in doing so. Vanda Devullu talks about motherly love and the courage of a mother to start a new life with dignity, along with the daughter-in-law’s efforts to stand by the mother’s side, challenging the status quo. It underlines the importance of individual freedom of choice, regardless of age, and the right of every woman to be happy.

On the film’s OTT release, Sasi said, “I wanted to make a film that talks about free will and the right of women to pursue their desires regardless of their age. I’m really happy for the film’s success in the theatres and that now it will stream on ZEE5, reaching even more people.”
