KCR’s strategic silence: BRS chief bets on Revanth’s missteps?

Hyderabad: Is the sphinx-like silence of Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao studied, though he has been taunted by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for being “confined to his farmhouse” and jeered for being away from public life since “BRS has a past, but no future”?

The answer seems to be in the affirmative, going by the statements of his aides who echo KCR’s gut feeling that Revanth Reddy himself is helping the BRS party to return to power.

According to BRS leaders deemed emotionally close to the BRS supremo, KCR is “not going to fall in the trap of Revanth Reddy” by reacting to each of his disdainful comments about their leader and BRS. They feel that the Chief Minister is making it easy for the BRS to come back to power.

According to party leaders, the BRS chief has been keeping an eye on the day-to-day political activities and giving directions to party leaders on what should be done to corner the Revanth Reddy government.

Asked whether KCR was worried over the repeated challenges thrown at him by Revanth Reddy, a BRS leader said that their party chief was “waiting for an appropriate time and would respond “in a big way”… “KCR sir doesn’t take Revanth Reddy seriously as he feels the Chief Minister is a gone case and has lost the game already and wants KCR to respond only to divert the attention of people from his administrative failures. Revanth Reddy is doing half the job of ours, let him continue to do… Party leaders should focus on public issues reminding them about the indiscriminate promises made to the people to come to power,” the BRS leader said.

So, when will KCR return to active public life? On this, party MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar said: “KCR always chose his battles carefully. He never responded to unnecessary catcalls. Revanth Reddy is not being taken seriously by his own party. Except for some leaders in Delhi, he is not taken seriously. Revanth is an insignificant force in Telangana and he has lost the game already. The Congress cadre and Congress leadership and the community which supported Revanth has lost hope. He is incapable of running the administration.”

He further said that KCR thinks “Congress is a gone case and the future fight will be with BJP”. Further, he countered why KCR should respond to Revanth Reddy’s occasional posers. He said that already KCR has fallen in the trap of Revanth Reddy by accepting his challenge of not changing MLA candidates and now there is no need to fall in his trap once again. “Will Revanth listen to whatever KCR says? KCR will say ‘stop demolitions on Musi’; will he listen? KCR will argue for Pharma City, will Revanth Reddy listen to it? Hence, why should KCR respond to Revanth Reddy’s challenges,” asked Sravan.

Regarding the proposed ‘Bus Yatra’ by KCR, the BRS leader said that the party’s working president has already hinted about the yatra and said it would be during an “appropriate time”.

Party leaders said that generally there are two types of men in politics: those who strive for getting a good name in society and those who cash in on getting the opportunity. KCR thought about giving water to every acre; hence, he focused on irrigation; whereas, Revanth Reddy always thinks about real estate.
