Land registrations down, but revenue up

Hyderabad: The revision of valuation slabs across the state has yielded good results in the form of increase in revenue to the Telangana state government, despite fall in land registrations. The state government received 20 per cent more revenue from the Registration Department after revision of land values. However, the registrations per se dipped by 35,000 when compared with the last year’s registrations, according to Special Secretary to the Government in the Revenue Department (Registration & Stamps) Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu.

The Telangana government rolled out revised valuation slabs across the state beginning June 5, 2026.

The Registration Department has received Rs 2,600 crore till date from June 5, reflecting 20 per cent growth in revenue. As usual, the Registration Department received huge revenues from Rangareddy, Sangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.

Last year, the Registration Department received Rs.2,200 crore during the same period i.e. from June 5 to July 29. Meanwhile, 2.9 lakh registrations took place during the period last year. However, this year, following the increase in valuation slabs, 2.55 lakh registrations took place, that is 35,000 less registrations, Hanmanthu said. It may be recalled that the Registration Department received Rs.3,110 crore during April and May 2026 due to the announcement of enhancement of land valuations. The Department received a record Rs.1,700 crore in the month of May, which is Rs.310 crore more than what was collected in May 2025.
