Shubhangi Atre recalls terrifying stalking ordeal from her teenage years
The Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! actress revealed how a man stalked her during her school days in Indore, wrote their names on roads and walls near her home, and left her family living in fear. She urged women to speak up against stalking and harassment.
Mumbai: Popular television show Kasautii Zindagii Kay's actor Shubhangi Atre has faced a horrible stalking incidents in her teenage years. The actress recently opened up how a man repeatedly followed her on his bike. He also said that man even wrote their names together across the roads and buildings near her home. The actress was speaking during an interview about stalking and how she has been a victim of it. She said that the experience had left her and her family deeply scared. The actress highlighted the need for women to speak up against stalking and harassment.
Shubhangi Atre said that it was a very scary event of her life. She mentioned that she was studying in 10th-11th grade at that time in Indore. She said that whenever her family members opened the door of the house they would find her name along with that man's name on the wall in front.
She added, "Peeche aana bike pe chakar lagana. Bus fir ek din meri sister ne unse baat kari ki yeh sab karke kuch nahi hone waala hai, you be something and achieve something and then come and we'll talk. Bahut zayada dara deta hai yeh. Hum itna sunte hain, rapes and all, gharwaale waise hi dar jaate hain.''
Shubhangi duirng the interview also urged every woman to speak up against stalking and harassment. She said that such incidents can sometimes prevent talented young women from even stepping out of their homes. She began her acting career with Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She also featured in the lead role in Kasturi. After Kasturi, she has now become a prominent face on television.
The actress became popular for playing Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. She took the role of Angoori Bhabhi in 2016 which helped her amass a huge fan following. She is known for her innocent face and signature dialogue delivery. The fans often share her clips from the show on social media platforms.
