EFLU joins nationwide ‘nasha mukt yuva for viksit bharat sankalp abhiyan’

The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) on Sunday participated in the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with enthusiastic participation from its Hyderabad, Lucknow and Shillong campuses.

The University community joined the national campaign with a shared commitment to promoting a drug-free, healthy and responsible society. The initiative highlighted the importance of collective action, awareness and education in preventing substance abuse and encouraging young people to adopt healthy and value-based lifestyles.

EFLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Nagaraju led the University’s participation in the programme, bringing together students, research scholars, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and other stakeholders from all three campuses. The participation reflected the University’s commitment to supporting the Government of India’s vision of building a Nasha Mukti Bharat through sustained awareness, education, prevention and community engagement.

Addressing the University community, Prof. Nagaraju called upon students, faculty and staff to become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement and contribute actively to creating greater awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. He emphasised the need to encourage healthy and responsible lifestyles within families, educational institutions and society.

The Vice-Chancellor urged members of the EFLU fraternity to actively contribute towards realising the vision of a drug-free India as envisaged by the Prime Minister. He stressed the significant role that educational institutions can play in empowering young people with knowledge and awareness while fostering environments conducive to physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Members of the University participated in the live address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening awareness, prevention and community outreach initiatives against substance abuse. The programme underscored the pivotal role of universities and other educational institutions in shaping socially responsible citizens and nurturing a healthier and more aware generation.

The programme witnessed the active participation of Registrar Sini Manchala, Proctor, Academic Deans, Administrative Deans, Directors of the Shillong and Lucknow campuses, senior faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, research scholars, students and other stakeholders.

Through its participation in the nationwide campaign, EFLU reaffirmed its resolve to contribute to the broader national effort to build a drug-free India and support the vision of a healthy, responsible and developed nation.
