Two held for chain-snatching in Narsingi

Hyderabad: The Narsingi police arrested two men in connection with a chain-snatching case and recovered stolen gold, a stolen scooter and two mobile phones.
According to the police, the offence took place on July 9, when a woman was walking alone on Road No. 14, Alkapoor Township. Two men riding a scooter allegedly snatched her 32-gram gold mangalsutram, pushed her to the ground and fled the spot.
During the investigation, the CCS Team and the Narsingi Crime Team, using technical surveillance and human intelligence, identified and arrested Dommaranandyala Surya Teja and Palagiri Rajamohan Reddy on August 2. Police said the accused confessed to committing the chain-snatching offence. During questioning, they also admitted to using a stolen Suzuki Access scooter, which had been stolen from the Raidurgam police station limits, to execute the crime.
The police recovered 20 grams of melted gold, two gold ‘pustelu’, the stolen scooter and two mobile phones from the accused. The Cyberabad Police advised citizens to remain vigilant, especially while travelling alone during late hours. They urged the public to immediately report suspicious activity by dialling 100 or approaching the nearest police station.
