Khammam: Senior BJP leader and former MLC Dr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its promises to unemployed youth and demanded immediate medical assistance for a job aspirant from Khammam district who allegedly attempted suicide over lack of employment opportunities.

Speaking over phone to media people on Monday, Dr Sudhakar Reddy described the reported suicide attempt by Venu Kumar, a resident of New Lakshmipuram village in Mudigonda mandal of Khammam district, as deeply distressing and said it reflected the growing frustration among unemployed youth in the state. He alleged that the Congress had abandoned the assurances made to young people, including its proposed youth policy, after assuming office, and criticised the government for its alleged failure to issue adequate job notifications and create employment opportunities.

Claiming that Venu Kumar was undergoing treatment in a critical condition at a private hospital, Dr Sudhakar Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister had not responded to the incident despite its seriousness. The BJP leader also accused the government of attempting to divert attention from the incident instead of addressing the concerns of unemployed youth. He further alleged that the government was suppressing protests by the BJP and its youth wing through preventive arrests and police action whenever they raised issues concerning unemployed youth.

He also demanded that the state government ensure the best possible medical treatment for Venu Kumar and take immediate steps to address the grievances of unemployed youth across Telangana.
