Komatireddy promises irrigation of every acre in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy vowed every acre in the Nalgonda Assembly constituency would be provided irrigation water through the Brahmana Vellemula project.

Venkat Reddy said the State government was committed to transforming Nalgonda district into a fertile and prosperous region by providing irrigation to four lakh acres through the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. “Reconstruction works on the SLBC project were under way and would be completed by August 2028, after which irrigation water would be supplied to the targeted areas,” he said.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating a new gram panchayat building, constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh, at Kanchanapally village in Nalgonda mandal on Sunday.

He said Kanchanapally would be developed as a model village, with a focus on roads, drainage, drinking water, irrigation and education. Double-lane roads were being laid to connect the village with Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Chityal, and other places.

The Kanchanapally Lift Irrigation Scheme, taken up at a cost of Rs 11 crore to provide irrigation to every acre in the village, would be completed by Dasara. The government had also sanctioned a 33/11 KV sub-station at a cost of ₹3 crore for Kanchanapally. Both the lift irrigation scheme and the sub-station would be inaugurated during the Dasara festival, he said.

The Minister further said that the government was also taking steps to economically empower women by facilitating small businesses and encouraging them to establish rice mills and warehouses.
