MP urges Centre to speed up Warangal Fort development and comprehensive action plan for Kakatiya heritage

Hanumakonda: Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya has called on the Central Government to accord top priority to the preservation and development of Kakatiya heritage, describing it as a symbol of the self-respect of the people of Warangal and a source of pride for the nation.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha on Monday, she sought details of measures taken over the past three years for the development of Kakatiya monuments, traditional arts, handlooms, handicrafts, cultural festivals and tourism.

Responding in a written reply, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the Archaeological Survey of India was maintaining nine protected monuments in Telangana based on requirements and available funds. Dr Kavya welcomed the Centre’s support for the Ramappa Temple under the PRASAD scheme but urged a comprehensive action plan for all Kakatiya heritage sites. She also demanded world-class tourist facilities at Warangal Fort and the Thousand Pillar Temple and early completion of the fort’s development works.
