City zones rush to complete digitalisation in special voter list revision

Bengaluru: Karnataka electoral officials announced on August 4 that BBMP North and South zones, along with seven other districts across the state, have completed 100 percent digitalisation of forms under the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls.

Confidence remains high that every form, including details of absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate voters known as ASDDO, will reach full digital completion by the August 8 deadline. Only few days remain before the house-to-house survey phase ends.

Bengaluru city zones that earlier trailed in both form distribution and digital entry have recorded strong recent gains. BBMP South lists 21,44,784 electors in total, of whom 47.54 percent signed and returned their forms while the remaining 52.46 percent appear on the ASDDO roster, the highest such share anywhere in Karnataka.

BBMP North records 23,32,621 electors, with 51.68 percent of forms returned and 48.32 percent placed in the ASDDO category. Bengaluru Urban district shows 40,21,039 electors and 99.99 percent form digitalisation, of which 45.85 percent fall under ASDDO. Bengaluru Central counts 18,89,919 electors, 50.61 percent of forms accepted and 49.38 percent marked ASDDO. Bengaluru Rural stands at 99.86 percent digital coverage. Across Karnataka the overall digitalisation figure has climbed to 99.56 percent, identifying 1,10,59,288 electors or 19.95 percent of the total as ASDDO cases. Soft and hard copies of these lists are already moving to every registered political party well before August 8 so final checks and corrections can occur.

Booth Level Officers first concentrated on digitalising the forms they had already gathered, which caused temporary delays in Bengaluru; rapid acceleration has since closed the gap as the deadline draws near.
