Tulu Academy’s student reading campaign reaches 16th edition
As part of the initiative, 50 students from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujire, will spend a day at the Academy’s library in Tulu Bhavan, Urwa Store, exploring its collection of Tulu literature and participating in discussions with scholars.
Mangaluru: The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy will continue its campaign to encourage reading of Tulu literature among young people with the 16th edition of its “Akademid Onji Dina; Bale Tulu Oduga” programme on August 7. The programme translates to “One Day in the Academy; Come Read Tulu.”
As part of the initiative, 50 students from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College, Ujire, will spend a day at the Academy’s library in Tulu Bhavan, Urwa Store, exploring its collection of Tulu literature and participating in discussions with scholars.
The programme, scheduled to begin at 10 AM, will be inaugurated by noted researcher and former Academy member Bennett G Ammanna, who will also deliver the introductory address.
Karavali Lekhakiyara Mattu Vachakiyara Sangha president Shakunthala T Shetty, former Academy member and SDM College Associate Professor Dr. Diva Kokkada Koyyur, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ravishankar G K will participate in the interaction with students. Academy president Taranath Gatti Kapikad will chair the event. The Academy said the initiative is aimed at fostering greater interest in Tulu language, literature and reading among students.
