EVs are the future of India’s transport: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy stated that India has taken another significant step forward in clean transport, indigenous technology, and green energy. Addressing an event while launching domestic major Keto Motors first commercial electric bus on August 2, G Kishan Reddy handed over a nine-metre electric bus, specifically designed to address national congestion and traffic requirements, to the operating partner. On this occasion, the Minister congratulated the engineers, management, and employees who played a pivotal role in the vehicle's design and development.

The Union Minister said the event highlighted the remarkable transformation the country is witnessing in manufacturing, technology, green energy, and innovation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

G Kishan Reddy noted that India has evolved from a time when it waited decades for essentials like vaccines to developing its own COVID-19 vaccine and supplying it to over 60 countries worldwide ahead of developed nations. He added that this same spirit of self-reliance is now clearly evident in the automobile sector.

Expressing full central support for the electric vehicle sector, G Kishan Reddy said electric mobility is not merely an alternative to petrol and diesel vehicles, but is paving a strong path for energy security, pollution control, import reduction, and technological self-reliance. He stated that the central government is comprehensively developing every sector, ranging from electric vehicle manufacturing to batteries, charging facilities, research, and skill development.

To ensure the electricity powering electric vehicles remains green, the central government is making massive investments in solar, wind, hydro, and green energy corridors. G Kishan Reddy highlighted that India is emerging as a global leader in electronics, ranking second worldwide in mobile phone manufacturing. Electronics manufacturing has grown sevenfold, exports have increased elevenfold, and the sector employs approximately 25 lakh people. The central government is extending full support through PLI schemes and stable industrial policies.

Surging ahead with excellent infrastructure and road networks, India is marching towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He emphasized that the success achieved by Keto Motors stands as a testament to indigenous capability. Striking an optimistic note, G Kishan Reddy expressed hope that Keto Motors continues to contribute significantly to national economic growth and employment generation by developing eco-friendly transportation systems through advanced research in the future.
