KTR writes to Rahul, seeks apology for ‘criminal waste’ comment

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on August 2, demanding an unconditional public apology and urging him to make Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy apologise for describing engineering students as criminal waste.

In a formal letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi, KT Rama Rao questioned whether the Chief Minister's controversial remarks represented the official position of the Congress party regarding students, engineers, and youth.

Holding Rahul Gandhi politically and morally responsible as the leader who campaigned for the party and selected Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister, KTR asserted that the Congress leadership cannot distance itself from the remarks. He noted that Rahul Gandhi's silence effectively amounts to an endorsement of the statement.

Describing the remarks as a direct insult to lakhs of engineering students, educators, and parents, KTR stated that branding engineers as criminal waste diminishes the profession while demeaning the dignity of the constitutional office occupied by the Chief Minister.

The BRS working president alleged that these comments were not an isolated incident but part of a recurring pattern of humiliating young people, citing previous statements allegedly made by Revanth Reddy against university students, youth, and the teaching community.

KT Rama Rao demanded that Rahul Gandhi issue an immediate unconditional public apology to students, engineers, teachers, and youth across the country. He further urged Rahul Gandhi to direct Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to withdraw his comments immediately and tender an unconditional apology to all affected individuals.

Warning that Telangana's youth are closely observing the Congress government's conduct, KTR asserted that young citizens would deliver their verdict through the ballot box, adding that the judgment of an awakened generation remains far more enduring than temporary political authority.
